The article deals with the problem of civic education in the Russian Federation. The author reviews the latest statutes and regulations that show the correlation between the concepts of "civic education", "patriotic education" and "civic patriotic education". The teaching methods of civic education in a high school are considered. Particular attention is paid to the ethno- pedagogical approach and the project activities of the school museum. The paper substantiates the value of the ethno-pedagogical approach to the civic education of students.
