The article provides an analysis of environmental problems associated with the development of the food industry. The share of the food industry in the total discharge of polluted wastewater by the industry of the Russian Federation is given. The main sources of the formation of harmful substances discharged into the wastewater of Russia are given. It is noted that the second, no less important environmental problem is air pollution by emissions from food industry enterprises. The main measures for the greening of technological processes have been determined. Attention is drawn to the problem of accumulation of consumption and production waste. Methods for solving the problem of minimizing environmental damage in industrial production are presented.
