English and Russian dandyism (on the example of P.Ya. Chaadaev) as a socio-cultural phenomenon

This article is an attempt to reconstruct the main features of the ethos and lifestyle of English and Russian dandies in the context of the socio-cultural development of Russia and Europe at the turn of the XVIII-XIX centuries. The article puts forward a hypothesis about religion as an important factor in the formation of a dandy subculture.
