“English for business communication” in the structure of additional professional education

The article is devoted to the problems of professional foreign language training in the system of additional professional education. The author considers the possibilities of the course “English for Business Communication” in developing speech and behavior strategies of foreign language communication in the professional environment and proves the necessity of designing a course of business foreign language communication on the basis of universal communicative genres, such as applying for a job, presentations, negotiations, business meetings. The author substantiates the role of presented genres, as key in the developing strategies for solving problems in the field of chosen professional activity through the knowledge of a foreign language. The article presents the content of the course “English for Business Communication”, developed and implemented in the practice of teaching a wide category of students at the Institute of Additional Professional Education of the Volgograd State Social and Pedagogical University.
