Anglicans and foreigners of other faiths in Saint Petersburg in the first half of the 18th century according to the Anglican parish register

The article presents the results of a study of the St. Petersburg foreigners’ database compiled on the basis of register of Petersburg Anglicans parish for the years 1723-1750. The data on Anglicans were studied by methods of descriptive statistics for the St. Petersburg British colony’s reconstruction. Author identifies the national and social structure of Petersburg British colony and determines some demographic indicators (such as child mortality, national and religious parameters of kinship, the percentage of illegitimate children). The article concretizes our ideas about the social and professional composition of the St. Petersburg British, creates their collective portrait and introduces new names of British merchants and employees. The author concludes that in the first half of the 18th century the St. Petersburg British, as a rule, were represented by business people who worked with capital and using special knowledge. Professional activities of the British demonstrated the achievements of their homeland in various spheres, namely in the economy, technologies, shipbuilding and naval.
