The article investigates the coverage of the Anglo-Russian Convention of 1907 in three prominent Persian newspapers of the era: Habl-Al-Matin, Mosavat, and Nedaye Vatan. Persia emerged as a battleground for the expansion of influence between England and Russia in the latter half of the 19th century, reaching its zenith in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. However, global events at the dawn of the 20th century, such as the threat posed by the rise of Germany, alongside internal upheavals in Russia and England, prompted the two powers to negotiate the division of their spheres of influence in Persia. This treaty marked a pivotal moment and garnered significant attention in Persian newspapers. These publications, staunch advocates of Persia's sovereignty since the Iranian Revolution of 1905, closely monitored news surrounding the convention. For many, the treaty posed a grave threat to Persia's independence and sovereignty. However, there were pragmatic voices, which acknowledged Persia's vulnerability and advocated for pragmatic approaches to safeguard its interests amidst evolving geopolitical dynamics. This study sheds light on the varied perspectives within Persian media on the Anglo-Russian Convention, highlighting its significance as a turning point in Persian history.
