Angiotensin II-receptor blockers in the therapy of patients having diabetes mellitus and arterial hypertension

Modern literature data concerning beneficial effects of therapy with angiotensin II -receptor blockers in patients with hypertension and diabetes mellitus are summarized in the paper. Results of clinical and experimental studies which assessed antihypertensive, organoprotective and metabolic effects of angiotensin II-receptor blockers are summarized and analyzed. List of primary indications for therapy with angiotensin II-receptor blockers and possible prospective directions of their use are given.
