The article continues the series of studies on antiminses with documentary inscriptions as specific historical sources. This article presents the results of study on antimins of St. Nicholay church in Armavir which has an inscription telling that it is “blessed for the use both in marching rites in church and in any holy places”. Today this antimins is one of few relics of St. Nicholay church witnessing the past religious life of Armavir. The appearance of the inscription traces to events of 1914 in Armavir. Having studied some archival documents the author came to the conclusion that renaming of Armavir from village to town caused certain changes in Church life as well. It is likely that after April 12, 1915 the clergy of the cathedral accepted a renewed antimins with a “town” note, while the former one became for marching use.
