Gal 2:11-14 is one of the few passages that strongly attracts New Testament exegetes. This is the only place in the New Testament that speaks of a clash between the two most revered disciples of the Lord - the apostles Peter and Paul. The complexity of interpretation here is determined not by the complexity of the text, but by the situation, which is clearly, although, according to some, one-sidedly, described by the Apostle Paul. It seems that ecclesiology should play a key role in resolving this issue, since the essence of the case under consideration in Antioch is ecclesiological. The study undertakes to describe the general exegetical panorama for this passage, taking into account the worldview demarcation of exegetes according to their confessional affiliation. The patristic exegetical tradition is taken as a “control group”.
