The article presents the results of studying the antioxidant status of highly productive dairy cows in different periods of operation. The level of activity of glutathione peroxidase, superoxide dismutase, glutathione in the blood, as well as the concentration of diene conjugates and malondialdehyde were studied. It has been established that in animals throughout the entire technological cycle there is a low activity of the enzymatic unit and a high concentration of lipid peroxidation products. The most critical period, characterized by depression of antioxidant protection and intensification of free radical oxidation, is the initial stage of lactation. In the second half of lactation, there is an increase in the functional state of antioxidant mechanisms in the body of cattle, and with an increase in the duration of pregnancy in the dry period, a decrease.
