Antiplatelet and antithrombogenic activity of phytoestrogens of flax seed extract in experimental ovariectomy

The study showed that the flax seed extract (p.o. 40 mg/kg daily for 14 days) prevented the development of intravascular carotid artery thrombosis induced by application of 10% FeCl2 solution on the vascular wall. In the ovariectomized rats, the flax seed extract increased the antiplatelet activity of the vascular wall (abdominal aorta) and potentiated the endotheliummediated vasodilatation.
