The article attempts to summarize and systematize the impact on a person of one of the key phenomena developing in modern society - alienation. As a foundation for the model of its formation and development, an anthropocentric approach was chosen, which arranges alienating factors according to the criterion of “distance” from the individual. As a result, the main factors form an anthropocentric model of alienation, which allows us to trace the development of this phenomenon from minor manifestations to deep intrapersonal conflicts. Self-alienation is presented as an extreme form of alienation, the emergence of which can lead to the formation of a new type of personality - a self-alienated person. The information environment is singled out as a key factor in the phenomenon under consideration. In the anthropocentric model, a separate dimension is allocated to it - a temporary one, demonstrating its significance and the special nature of its impact on a person. Managing the information environment seems to be the most effective way to overcome the consequences of the development of alienation and self-alienation.
