Anthroponymic research on the first inhabitants of Сhelyabinsk fortress

K. Kirilov, the Bashkir uprising began. Therefore it was necessary for the construction of Orenburg to build strongholds on the way of food convoys going to the place of the future city. Chebarkulskaya, Miasskaya, Chelyabinsk, Yetkulskaya fortresses - the first stronghold which were erected in 1736-1737. The first inhabitants of these fortresses were mostly peasants, recorded in the Cossacks. The composition of the population was fixed by the censuses, which were conducted in 1739-1740. This article analyzes male and female names, surnames and nicknames. Anthroponymic characteristics have significant hermeneutic potential. The article contains the composition of the names of the first residents of Chelyabinsk and analyzes the degree of their popularity. For comparison, similar information is given about the situation with names in other fortresses. Author of the article has also studied the composition of the first inhabitant’s names in Chelyabinsk fortress, their origin and conditional division into groups. There are comparisons with the anthroponymic characteristics of other Russian regions.
