Architectonic speech forms of narration as a component of metasemiotic space in German fiction texts

Бесплатный доступ

Narrative fiction text is considered in this article to be metasemiotic space in which different forms of characters'' speech are regarded as architectonic speech forms of narration (monologue or dialogue). Different types of speech are treated as signs with signifiers and signified. Signifiers function as formalized text elements which serve to express the corresponding ideas conveyed by various kinds of characters'' speech: direct, indirect, free indirect speech, retelling and inner monologue. All these kinds oppose to the author''s speech. Free indirect speech, which combines the author''s and characters'' speech, is treated as a kind of characters'' speech with the corresponding pragmatic intentions. Metasemiotic space of narrative fiction text is created by means of alternate speech forms of narration (both compositional and architectonic ones), with their coordination and subordination forming the composition and the plot of a literary work.
