Architecture of defense-residential complexes in the north of Western Siberia as a cultural and chronological marker (based on the materials of the archaeological sites of Sorovskiye lakes)

Бесплатный доступ

The specific feature of the archaeological sites in the northern part of Western Siberia is that the ruins are usually well seen in the microrelief of the area. In particular, this is true for the defensive-residential complexes with the period-specific layout of towns. This feature makes it possible to distinguish cultural and chronological markers of architecture, however, it does not allow to verify them, because until the early 2000s, the radiocarbon dating method was not used for the archaeological sites of the early Iron Age and the medieval period and the site age was estimated in a wide chronological range. The article presents the results of radiocarbon analyses of the samples from a number of sites of Sorovskiye Lakes. Analysis of the results revealed the need to revise the periodization of archaeological sites and cultures.
