The architectural space of the cultural center “El Fogon de los Arrieros” (Resistencia, province of Chaco, Argentina) as a metaphor for regional identity

The article presents the results of the analysis of the architectural space of the building of the cultural center “El Fogon de los Arrieros”. The novelty of the research lies in the dialogical approach to understanding the significance of this cultural institution. The Fogon is considered not only from a utilitarian point of view, but also from the point of view of the conceptual meanings with which its spaces are filled. In Argentina, R. G. Vignuales, L.S. Klappenbach, M. Giordano and others devoted their works to the study of the activities of the Fogon Cultural Center. In Russia, the symbolism of the architectural space of Fogon is being studied for the first time. To understand the regional identity and to the extent permitted for this article, the historical and cultural context of the emer-gence of the capital of Chaco-the city of Resistencia, for which Fogon became the center of cultural innovations, is indicated. The interior space of the Fogon building became a metaphor for the multicultural reality of Chaco, in which the ambivalence, a specific idea of physical space for Latin Americans, is visualized. This property as a sign of regional identity expresses the architectural style of the interiors. The appearance of the building became a catalyst for changes in the cultural landscape of the city.
