The arctic in the new global development paradigm

In the article reflections on the geopolitical role of the Arctic as a part of world’s geographical space are presented. The paper analyzes the current state and prospects of development of the Arctic in the context of its growing value in connection with expansion of demand for strategic types of raw materials, increased interest in the region of the concerned states and transnational consortia, as well as with the development of the international transport corridors and new technologies facilitating access to sources of raw materials.
