Art institutions in Novosibirsk as a resource base for cultural tourism

The article describes the possibilities of using art institutions for cultural tourism development. The term "art institution" is understood as a formally organized locations, where the art performs, for example a permanent institution, a venue temporary organized in real environment, or a virtual platform. The development and functioning system of Novosibirsk art institutions is described in the context of the cultural dynamics of researched destination in diachronic and synchronic sections. A current resource base of theatres, concert halls, cinemas, museums, galleries, exhibition halls, circus, national and cultural centres, and multifunctional art clusters is analysed as well as their role in formation of social and cultural space of the city and event communications in art culture sphere is defined. Festivals, exhibitions and other art events are shortly reviewed. The research of art institutions‘ activities allows to make several suggestions to improve their efficiency in cultural tourism. First, the range of services and products should be expanded by new forms, thematic diversity and innovative methods of functioning. Second, the infrastructure including a comfortable recreational environment for people with low mobility should be developed. Third, the regional specifications should be used in prospective events. Fourth, the art products and services should be developed for target groups including demand and requirements analysis of different groups of people. Fifth, more efficient internet communications for promotion of the own proposals, advertising the future events and looking for potential partners should be ensured. One of the promising formats is virtual trip. In this regard the resource base for "digital" cultural tourism should be created. Finally, cluster approach including partnership with tourism institutions increases activities of the art institutions regarding the positioning of their products in social and cultural tourism.
