Aspects of selecting the radio frequency band for civil radar systems to ensure the security of infrastructure facilities

The selection of the radio frequency (RF) band is a crucial aspect in the development of radar systems (RS) for the protection of infrastructure, specifically for the detection and tracking of unauthorized small unmanned aerial vehicles (sUAVs). This article examines the main factors influencing the choice of RF band, such as signal energy losses in the atmosphere, regulatory and legislative constraints. Additionally, it addresses the density distribution of military radar systems across the RF spectrum.
