Associative and emotive image of the cat in the works of N. Ruzankina: tradition and innovation

The article presents the research concerning the associative and emotive representation of the cat image in the works of the contemporary writer Natalya Ruzankina. The authors employ the traditional techniques of animal depiction in the fiction and interpret the writer's ideas about the cat image function such as transformation of the categories “good” and “evil” as the conflict unfolds.
