Associative portrait of siblings in the American language consciousness: gender aspect

This article reveals the gender peculiarities of the representation of images of a brother and sister in the language consciousness of American respondents on the basis of associative fields formed as a result of a free associative experiment. The paradigmatic antonymic scheme of association "brother-sister / sister-brother" and the dominant of neutral associations are revealed. More critical view of the perception of the images of a brother and sister is presented by female respondents.
