An original adaptation of an internationally known tale in a late 18th century Siberian manuscript

The only version of «A story of a merchant daughter…» has survived as a part of a late 18th century Siberian Old Believer manuscript (located at the Tomsk State University's Scientific Library). This story is a author's original adaptation of the internationally known fable, «The Innocent Slandered Maid…» (AT № 883A). The article compares text of the «Story…» with similar East Slavic fairy tales and other adaptations of this plot in early Russian fiction.
