Research of the general principles of art creativity in ancient-Russian canonical art and also ways of their individual author's interpretation by masters of various regional schools is one of the fundamental problems of art criticism. On the basis of analysis of chants by Ivan Lukoshkov, the chanter of Stroganov (Usolskaya) school the article shows his basic creative principles. The majority of revealed chants of the master is the result of creative work in traditional for his school way which originated from deep history of chant culture of early Rus. At the same time Lukoshkov created original chants. His musical heritage puts him forward to the row of the most outstanding masters of Russian medieval art.
