Automotive technical expertise in civil procedure: problems of theory and prospects of development

The article deals with topical issues of the application of engineering and transport expertise in civil proceedings. Forensic automotive technical expertise (SATE) is a kind of engineering and transport expertise and is often appointed by the court in civil cases. However, in the scientific literature, it is usually viewed through the prism of criminal law. In the work, based on legal regulation, an attempt is made to classify theoretical approaches to understanding the term "automotive technical expertise", problems in its application are identified, and categories of civil cases are provided, where courts often decide on its appointment.
