This article analyzes the economic structure of Florence in the XV-XVI centuries. Based on the development of the banking system, it is possible to trace the history of the beginning of the ascent of the Medici as a famous banking family. The study of the economy and banking system shows how the city, which originally existed at the expense of guilds, began its development, and when trade went beyond Italy, banking became widespread.
