The article draws attention to the significant role of the scientific discussion on the essence of sociocultural activity initiated by prominent scientists N. N. Yaroshenko and V. V. Tuev at the beginning of this century, which laid the general methodological foundations for the study of the basic determinants of its content. It was as a result of this discussion that a clear understanding of the normative nature of methodological knowledge about this concept emerged, which determines the ideological approaches to the process of its research from the standpoint of the pedagogical concept, as well as the relevance of implementation in various branches of social and humanitarian sciences. In the future, this made it possible, on the one hand, to more intensively study general cultural phenomena in terms of the possibilities inherent in them for determining leisure needs, amateur requests of subjects-visitors to cultural institutions and additional education in the field of art, and on the other - to solve organizational and pedagogical problems associated with achieving effectiveness in the professional development of specialists in the sociocultural sphere. The article presents the author's definition of the concept of "modern sociocultural activity", considered in the dichotomy "socialization - individualization" of the individual in the process of his spiritual and moral development. The basic pedagogical determinants of the content of modern sociocultural activity are identified and analyzed, the deep understanding of which is associated with the consideration of specific pedagogical principles.
