Unmanned Aerial Vehicle in the Context of Forensic: Design Features and Research Possibilities

The legislatively approved priority of ensuring national security and protecting the state integrity of the Russian Federation is the basis for building and modernizing current tools to achieve the goals mentioned above, and, as a result, creates new challenges in the field of forensic research. The paper considers aspects of the target purposes, technical equipment, technological features and specifics of forensic expertise in relation to unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). An urgent issue in this field of research currently remains the lack of uniform requirements and conditions for UAV investigation in the forensic framework. The achieved goals of this study include answers to questions about the design features of UAVs, such as software and hardware complexes, the possibility of UAVs to be the object of forensic examinations of various types, and the distinctive features of an accident scene inspection initiated by a UAV.
