Occupational safety in agriculture: the state, theoretical analysis of traumatic factors and modern ways to neutralize them

Agricultural production is the basic part of the agro-industrial complex of the country as a whole. The achievements of rural workers and processors of manufactured products ensure the country's food security. However, their work is overshadowed by occupational injuries with temporary or permanent disability, and sometimes life. The article provides reliable information on the issue under consideration for 2022 in comparison with 2021. Special attention is paid to fatal injuries: quantitative data on workers in crop production, animal husbandry, processing industries, fishing and fish farming are presented. The subjects of the Federation where fatal injuries occurred in the production of various sub-sectors are named. Information is provided on an insignificant reduction in injuries in comparison with 2021. Typical sources and types of injuries in agriculture are considered, indicating their share in total injuries in the country's agro-industrial complex. The main causes of injuries and their share in the total injury are noted. Attention is drawn to the relative stability of the sources and causes of injury in the industry over the years (differences occur mainly only in quantitative terms). In the whole country, there is a sluggish decrease in injuries compared to the previous year by 1,5-2,5%, which is clearly not enough. In connection with this and the updated regulatory framework in the country, a theoretical analysis of the existing types of activities and their possible mutual influence on injuries is provided, which allows to identify the sources of potential injury. As preventive measures, information is provided on reasonable methods and means that block the possibility of injury, ensuring a dynamic reduction and elimination of injuries in the agricultural sector.
