Library history: new approaches and views

The article presents a review of a new book - a collective monograph published by the Moscow State Institute of Culture - “Library History: current state and prospects of study”. The review reveals the contribution of the authors of the monograph to the formation of new theoretical and methodological approaches to the study of library history. The author of the review focuses on the most significant results of the research conducted by the author’s team. The evaluation of the structure of library history proposed in the monograph as an independent scientific discipline is given. The new materials and research presented in the publication are analyzed, devoted to specific stages of library history, foreign and local library history, the history of specific libraries, the study of individual events. As a key result, the reviewer presents the contribution of the authors of the monograph to the understanding and development of methodological tools of library history.
