Library and information education in the context of Yu. S. Zubov's ideas

The article is devoted to modern problems of library and information education in the context of the ideas of Yuri Zubov (1924-2006) - an outstanding Soviet and Russian scientist, bibliographer, bibliographer, cultural critic, teacher, candidate of philological Sciences, doctor of pedagogical Sciences, Professor. The imperatives of deepening the subject-branch training of the future library and information specialist in the University proved by him in the twentieth century are actualized. The prognostic character of these and other ideas is shown in the conditions of modern transformation of the social mission of the library and the steady trend of strengthening the intellectualization of the library and information specialist.
