This article discusses the concept of Big Data as a tool for collecting, processing and analyzing data (structured and unstructured) and their subsequent use for developing management decisions to improve the organization’s activities. The characteristic features of Big Data are defined: horizontal scalability, fault tolerance, data locality. The capabilities of Big Data in providing effective management decisions for an organization in the field of planning and forecasting have been identified: it allows: to create a single formalized language that facilitates the coordination of the activities of managers, technical specialists and analysts; make information useful and turn it into a long-term asset; monitor deviations of financial indicators from the planned level in real time; identify factors that negatively affect the financial position of the organization and others.
