Biological assessment of leek varieties under the conditions of the southern forest-steppe of the Omsk region

An increase in the production of vegetable crops with a set of economically valuable traits is one of the important tasks faced by the vegetable industry today. The purpose of the present study was to identify the most promising leek varieties for cultivation under the conditions of the southern forest-steppe of the Omsk Region. Object of the research was the study of the biological cultivation characteristics of leek varieties of foreign breeding, including the following tasks: conducting biometric studies; determining the yielding capacity of different varieties. The research results have shown that the maximum growth rate of the false stem, 17 and 22 cm, was evidenced in the balder Wiebulis Orig variety, while the minimum parameters over the two years of research was evidenced in the Ekkenhard variety, with 15.0 and 15.2 cm.
