Biological characteristics of the brown bear in the north-east of the Kostroma region

Adult animals of the Northern-Eastern areas of the Kostroma region mostly live as solitary individuals or in small groups comprising a female and her cubs. Brown bears awake from hibernation in the second half of March, and take to their den late October or early November. Animal sources food is the basis of the bear’s diet in the period after torpor, while feeding on vegetation starts with first green plants appearing.
