Blockchain as a technological basis for the development of banking ecosystems

The article analyzes the advantages and prospects for the development of banking (financial) ecosystems based on distributed ledger technology (blockchain). The main limitations and problems of the functioning of such ecosystems created on the basis of traditional technologies for the transfer of payments and information are identified. According to the author, based on the results of the analysis of foreign and Russian experience in this area, a number of positive effects can be expected from the use of the blockchain functionality and smart contracts built into it to create ecosystems in the sectors of trade finance, supply chain management, KYC, etc. The author comes to the conclusion that distributed ledger technology has significant potential for creating new and improving existing national ecosystems in the financial market.
