This publication continues the presentation of biographies of Don political figures from the reform period at the turn of the 1980-1990s. The hero of this article is Boris Mikhailovich Volodin (1931), a Stavropol resident by birth and early career. An expert on agrarian development and Gorbachev’s colleague in the Kray Committee of the CPSU, he was sent to Rostov Oblast during the perestroika years to “bring order to agriculture”. Volodin as the head of the regional executive committee (1984-1986), and later the first secretary of the regional Committee of the CPSU (1986-1990) carried out together with A.V. Vlasov is carrying out the “Gorbachev” line on the Don in matters of restructuring the party-state apparatus, implementing changes in the economic sphere, as well as democratizing socio-political life. In the spring of 1990, Volodin’s “Don business trip” came to an end, and he moved to Moscow to work in the State Planning Committee (1990-1991). After the collapse of the allied structures, the former leader of the Don Communists withdrew from political activity, and then returned to his native Stavropol.
