West syndrome (CV) is a severe epileptic encephalopathy in early childhood characterized by a characteristic electroencephalographic (EEG) pattern known as infantile spasm (is), regression of psychomotor development and hyparrhythmia. The incidence of West syndrome among the population is 1 in 2000-4000 live births, while 90% of patients develop symptoms during the first year of life. In most cases, the peak age of infantile spasms is 6-7 months; the onset of the disease after 18 months is rare, although there are reports in the literature about the onset of the disease at the age of 4 years. This article provides information about Vesta syndrome, which is often found in children and is an urgent problem of modern medicine.
