The struggle against hunger in the Kurgan district of the Tobolsk province (1911)

The paper analyses the data relating to the emergency measures taken by the local government against the famine that had broken out in the region in 1911. The key findings are based on the historical source previously not introduced into scientific use ("Sibirskie Vo-prosy" magazine). It is emphasized, that being in opposition to the existing government, the magazine's writers were clearly not interested in "embellishing" of socio-economic realities of both the entire state and a particular region, which suggests the impartiality and relative credibility of the information presented.
