BRICS as a civilizational alternative to western hegemony: problems and resources of solidarity

The article analyzes the problematic and thematic field of the XXII International Likhachev Scientific Readings “BRICS as a new space for dialogue of cultures and civilizations”, including: a fundamental analysis of the origins and causes of the cultural, political and economic challenges of the era, the search for strategic conditions for the survival of civilization, the development of conditions for minimizing destructive tendencies and designing future scenarios. At the plenary session and within the framework of sectional discussions, the subject of discussion was the mission and functions of the BRICS organization, which in the geopolitical context is acquiring the status of a platform for a multipolar world, and as such represents an alternative to the global imperialism of the “collective West” and Anglo-Saxon hegemony, and in the civilizational plane becomes a space for constructive cooperation and intercultural dialogue. The spiritual leadership and consolidating mission in the BRICS project belong to Russia, which consistently approves the strategy of preserving and developing the national and cultural identity and civilizational diversity of peoples and states.
