The study examines the state of British tank troops in the 1930s reflected in the reports of the Soviet military and technical experts. The paper demonstrated the systemic problems of the British military industry and tank troops which played an important role in the preparation of the UK for the Second World War. The author concluded that the peculiarities of the development and production of armored vehicles along with the deteriorating training of personnel led to a weak position of the British armored forces in the early stages of the war. These shortcomings are evident when studying the reports of the Soviet military and technical experts. The research is based on the archival records of the Russian State Military Archives, the National Archives of Great Britain, transcripts of meetings of the British Parliament, domestic and international scientific literature.
