The Brookings Institution and its role in formation of us foreign policy in the 20th-21st centuries

The article reviews the Brookings Institution as the most influential think tank in the United States. Having researched the Brookings’ structure and activities, the author concludes that the Brookings Institution has always played an important role in the formation of US foreign policy particularly in the second half of the 20th - early 21st centuries. The Brookings’ experts made a considerable impact on formulating a dual containment doctrine regarding Iraq and Iran. Besides, they consulted Bush administration during the invasion of Iraq and served as an adviser to the government of B. Obama. With Donald Trump’s victory, the importance of alternative think tanks keeps growing. Moreover, the Brookings Institution continues to staff the government and provide analysis on how to reach US geopolitical and geostrategic objectives.
