The author focuses on painting - one of the sections of the fine arts of Buryat-Mongolia. The Buddhism, which has received propagation in Buryat-Mongolia is Tibetan Buddhism, Mahayana Buddhism, referring to the Gelugpa school. In comparison with the Shamanism dominating here before, the Buddhism became strong incentive for social and cultural development of the Buryat-Mongolian people. The Buddhism as a folk religion in the XVIII th century and beginning of the XX th century was formed and developed in Buryat-Mongolia as a result of borrowing and assimilation of many elements of its preceding religions, especially Shamanism, so that the cults of shamanistic ancestors and nature included as integral components in a syncretic ceremonies of popular Buddhism.
