The article considers the archival heritage of S.P. Baldaev, a great folklorist, ethnographer and collector, stored in the funds of the Center of oriental manuscripts and xylographs of the IMTBS SB RAS. Special attention is paid to his notes concerning the tribal structure of the Buryat society, the origin of clans and genealogies.
