Target setting academician A. P. Okladnikov in publications on rock images of Siberia

In the article deals the publishing activities of аcademician Alexei Pavlovich Okladnikov, devoted to the fine art of ancient man – sites of rock art in particular, and prehistoric art in general. The work is focused on the identification and analysis of the research goals and objectives, who set himself A. P. Okladnikov (and сo-authors), with emphasis on the fundamental monographs. Composed of four sets of works scholar on the subject. Also highlighted three types of publication of monographs and research orientation: monographs with detailed pictures and characteristic representation of them as a historical source; books-albums with a brief description of drawings; educational work designed for archaeologists and for a wide range of readers. Thus, we can talk not only about great scientific interest of academician A. P. Okladnikov in the creative activity of the archaic men, but also about introducing of unic scientific material in his publications. In this fundamental work we can see clear classification and because of this we are able to look into the «unknown world». In fact, he laid the foundations of the modern idea of the rock art of Siberia and adjacent territories.
