Values and success in life as perceived by residents of Buryatia

The article considers Buryatia residents' ideas about values, life success and the conditions for its achievement. It is based on the results of the sociological study conducted in 2020-2021. The degree of preference of the republic inhabitants for basic and terminal values and their projection on life plans are analyzed. It is concluded that traditional values and conservative views, including family and material well-being, reliable friends and the desire to honestly live their lives, dominate among the respondents. Power, public recognition, business, pleasure and career are in the least demand. It is revealed that only a part of the respondents has achieved what they planned. At the same time, there is a significant part of the respondents that have not managed to realize their goals or have not planned to succeed at all.
