Th e article examines the concept of value-semantic orientation of a personality as a key component of meaningful self-determination. To diagnose the value-semantic orientations of Vietnamese students, the B. Bass personality orientation test and O.F. Potemkina’s methodology for diagnosing socio-psychological att itudes in the motivational-need sphere were applied. As a result, it was found that Vietnamese 1st and 3rd-year students have a predominant focus on business, while the focus on communication and on oneself is less pronounced. It was also determined that the most important value is “Process” for all three directions. Based on the data obtained, all students were divided into 3 groups (clusters) using cluster analysis, depending on the type of orientation: professional-business, selfi sh-personal and social-communicative. Each group presents a set of dominant values and describes the value-semantic orientations of the data.
