Value and meaning determinants of patriotism in the consciousness of students

Nowadays, Russian society faces new challenges in the field of civic education of young people. True patriotism is manifested not only in love for one’s Fatherland and pride in it, but also in active participation in the life of one’s country, in a willingness to serve and defend it. The survey conducted by the authors of the article among student youth showed that the overwhelming majority of its representatives consider themselves patriots. However, almost all of them, expressing their civic position, limit themselves only to words, without showing real interest in public activities and service to their country. The priority of state policy should be the active involvement of young people in patriotic activities and the creation of conditions for the formation of patriotic values in their minds. Our country needs active and dedicated youth who will serve its interests and contribute to its prosperity.
