The article analyzes the main ethnic and economic values of the Evenks and Tofalars, the indigenous peoples of the Baikal region. The modern problems of traditional ethnic economics in the taiga ethnic and cultural landscape are the result of the integrated social, cultural and economic factors. The study shows the relationship between the ethnic and economic processes and the way of life of the indigenous peoples in the Baikal region since the Siberia development held in two colonization stages. The transformation of land management and the integration of cultures are reflected in ethnic and economic situation. The processes of a drastic change in the value systems of indigenous peoples took place in the pre-Soviet and Soviet periods. Values of the local landscape have an impact on the social sphere of society, the ways of using natural resources and the efficient economic adaptation.
