The features of the digital generation in the context of generational theory are revealed. The challenges and risks caused by technologization and digitalization, mass network communication in the field of education are analyzed. The survey methodology "My value orientations and attitude to activities in the information environment" of 1st and 4th year students of the Library and Information Faculty of the Moscow State Institute of Culture is presented. The characteristics of the composition (age, gender) and educational level of the respondents are given.
