Value conflict in different communicative situations: influence of mental representations of values on communicative strategies

The article discusses the problem of studying mental representations of values by the methods of the psycholinguistic analysis and using the results for communicative strategies research. It considers the specificity of value systems, found out with the help of psycholinguistic experiments, which can be a potential source of value conflicts. It covers some results of these experiments with American respondents, native speakers of English, in some cases in comparison with Russian and Swedish cultures, and it also describes the special characteristics of communication in situations of interpersonal and intercultural value conflicts.
