Church and Politics: Participation of the Orthodox Clergy in the Amur Zemsky Sobor of 1922

The article is devoted to the controversy about the possibility of participation of the Orthodox clergy in politics. Based on the documents of the Amur Zemsky Sobor, which took place at the end of the Civil War, it is shown that when it came to the protection and restoration of the Orthodox state, as the Russian Empire was, the clergy participated not only in discussing the church issues, but also in resolving the issue of power, showing an example of the effective participation of the Church in the political life.
